Boson unit modification

Main goals:

  • Reduce cluttering of units by making their ranges bigger
  • Also discourage attacking using tens of units in a tight groups by making weapon damage ranges bigger -> if weapon detonates/hits, it's likely to take out/damage nearby units too
  • Give bigger importance to a single unit (e.g. weapons are more powerful - you need less shots to blow up enemy unit)
  • Make Boson more realistic (and fun too) by increasing ranges

Things needed:

  • Another powerful turret model (or artillery model)
  • Effects
  • Fine tuning

Problems so far:

  • Boson gets slow with big unit ranges (probably because of unitsInRange() checks, although I haven't profiled).
    Perhaps we could use the sectors once proposed to fix that?

Units

Descriptions of (most) units:

  • Air turret - DELETE!!! It has no use anymore since samsite is very powerful now.
  • Sam site - sam-site is now powerful.
    Uses guided missiles which can take down most incoming aircrafts with a single shot before they can get close enough to shoot at the sam-site.
    • Maybe increase it's range even more?
  • Turret - turret is the main ground defense unit. It has long range and big damage.
    For most units, one direct hit is enough to blow them up.
    • Need another (heavy) turret. Then we'd have heavy long-range turret and smaller short-range one.
  • Ferry - light water unit. Quite fast though.
    Has a not-too-lethal cannon.
    • TODO: use for transport
  • Grizzly - fires rockets.
    Quite effective against ground units, not very effective against air units.
  • Koyote - the heaviest helicopter unit. It has some armor and quite a lot of health.
    Has missiles (against both land and air units) and a short-range heavy cannon against ground units.
  • Leopard - the heaviest ground unit. Has lots of armor, making it almost invulnerable to cannon fire and quite a lot of health. Slower than (many) other ground units though.
    Has a heavy turret capable of killing some ground units with a single shot.
  • Panther - light armored vehicle. Has very basic armor and little hitpoints but is also quite cheap.
    Has a cannon.
    • TODO: use it as a transport for soldiers.
  • Piranha - minelayer. Slow, not much armor.
  • Puma - fast helicopter. Light, not much health. Can be used to provide some cover for land units.
    Has a light cannon for ground units and rockets for air units.
  • Ship - Heavy water unit. Slow but has lots of health.
    Has a powerful cannon.
  • Tiger - mobile radar system. Has very big sight range (bigger than any other mobile unit).
    Has a powerful but slow cannon against land units.
  • Tornado - fast air unit. Not very much armor, mediocre health, but very fast.
    Has a very light cannon against land units and rockets against air ones.
  • Transall - big transport aircraft, medium speed.
    Has a very powerful daisycutter bomb
    • TODO: use for transport
  • Warthog - quite fast jet. Light armor, medium health.
    Uses powerful rockets against ground units and a cannon against air ones.
  • Wolf - fast ground unit, not much firepower but is fast and can be used for recon missions, cheap.
    Has a (quite slow) cannon.
